Book - Creation and the Second Coming

Morris, H. M. (1991), Creation and the Second Coming, Green Forest: Master Books. Word, Koorong.
I often find myself lamenting that, when it comes to books on eschatology (that is, the Biblical study of the future, the end of the world, and the anticipated return of Jesus), it is hard to find clear, reasoned books for the lay person. Sometimes books are far too enshrouded in academic language. Others are fearful “hellfire and brimstone” religious types that don’t really help anyone.
The late Dr Henry Morris’ (1918-2006) Creation and the Second Coming takes a straightforward approach to the Bible. He writes a no-nonsense text that really opens up a clear view of the Bible’s account of the End Times. There is no scaremongering nor esoteric fluff. It encourages and inspires the reader (who is presumably a maturing follower of the Lord, and who has read the Bible), and directs us to the Lord Jesus Christ as our source of hope and life.
I really enjoyed reading this book, and I couldn’t put it down. It remains remarkably fresh, despite being written in 1991, and I found it almost unnervingly accurate in some of its predictions of coming events.
Topics addressed in the text include the following:
- Biblical signs of the approaching end. What did Jesus say, and the Prophets write?
- Issues in the Bible lands (that is, the lands where the Bible events historically occurred).
- The nation of Israel and the amazing promises to this nation in the Bible. (And powerful arguments against anti-Semitism and racism!)
- An approach to those often confusing issues of the Bibl’s revelation of the future. Who are the 144,000? The end time martyrs and witnesses? The ‘Woman in the Wilderness?’ The Millenium?
- What is the Holy City?
I appreciate Dr Morris’ sensible approach. He is open about the fact that no one can claim to predict the exact time of the end. And I did not get any sense of cultish heresy, as often seems to tack itself onto the revelation of the Bible. Being a renowned apologist and Bible-believing scientist (he held Bachelor, Master and Doctorate qualifications in science and was a Professor of Hydrogeology), Dr Morris also considers the necessity of trusting the Bible in order to fully appreciate the significance of the eagerly anticipated return of Christ.

Jonah Immanu’s viewpoint regarding Fikalo’s 22 JAN 08 commment on Dr. H. M.Morris’s book: Creation and the Second Coming and in answer to his question regarding whether “the Rapture” has been a teaching of Jesus and His Apostle Paul since Christianity’s inception or only recently taught, since the 1920’s
My book, Alienated Planet Earth and the End that will be Coming to Our World (ISBN 141205154) published in May 2005 by Trafford Publishing has a similar Christian eschatology as that of Dr. H. M. Morris’s book publshed in 1991. My book is available on-line at: trafford.com/04-2823
It too, directs readers to become redeemed by Yeshua and to become prepared for your own death or the pre-tribulation rapture before these end-time fearful events take them and their loved ones by surprise. I urge every contemporary reader to peruse it’s topical content at Trafford Publishing’s URL, on Google Book Search or to download it completely for free and read it on the Bookyards.com website if you are unable to afford buying it in paperback or as an e-Book.
However as to using “fear” of the Lord from the Bible as being: “the beginning of Wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10, Job 28:2
and fear of “God” as desirable in Genesis 42:18, Exodus18:21, Deuteronomy 4:10, 5:29, 6:2 &13, 28:58 &68, Psalms 33:8, 40:3, 66:16, 72:5, 86:11, 119 74, Proverbs 3:7, Ecclesiates 5:7 & 12:13, Isaiah 59:19, Jeremiah 5:22, 10:7, Malachi 4:2, Matthew 10;28, Luke 12: 5 & 32, 23:40, Romas 11:20, Hebrews 4:1, 12:21 and Revelation 15:4, I admit to incorporating the real emotion of fear in my evangelism.
My Christian eschatology does deliberately use “fear” of the Lord because of prophetic utterances of Jesus (Hebrew:Yeshua) about what is imminently coming upon the earth in His Mount Olivet prophecies/discourses and as a viable evangelical warning and tool to pursuade non-believers to salvation through the Messiah Yeshua in these end-times so that “fear” will figure as an element being among the persuasive elements to seek immediate redemption through Yeshua who alone has the power to save and to believe what He, Himself has said and warned.
Therefore, I am completely unapologetic about using such “Fear of God” as an evangelical tool in my end-time Christian eschatology because it should figure prominently in modern Christian evangelism.
The rapture as a concept has been a teaching of Yeshua and of His Apostle Paul since the inception of Christianity. Yeshua taught it in two of His gospels:
Matthew, Chapter 24 verses 40 and 41 and in Luke, Chapter 17, verses 34, 35 and 36.
The mystery of the pre-tribulation rapture was also expounded upon by Yeshua’s Apostle Paul in his first epistle to the early Corinthian church at Corinthians, Chapter 15 verses 51 through 57 and to the early Thessalonian church in his first episte to the Thessalonians, Chapter 4 verses 13 through 18.
Using the emotion of fear as a persuasive element is honest and straightforward and not “fluff” as you seem to categorize it to others. Contemporary people would do well to listen to the fearful things that Yeshua warned of in His Gospels of what is prophesied to come upon our earth in the future Tribulation and Great Tribulation before He returns to establish His Kingdom on our planet Earth.
In Yeshua’s Name,
Jonah Immanu, Christian Eschatological Author
Hi
Please don’t mind. This might interest you.
The SecondComing of Jesus has already happened in the form of the PromisedMessiah 1835-1908 fullfilling the signs as prophesised by Jesus and Muhammad. In my opinion, the Christians, Muslims and Jews should accept him.
Kindly visit my blog for interesting posts in this connection for your peaceful comments and or discussions on the pages/posts there. Differing opnion are also welcome.
